The annual meeting and election of directors for the St. Louis Park Hockey Association (SLPHA) Board is typically held annually each June.  Please see below regarding the 2020 SLPHA board annual meeting and revised election process.

Pursuant to Section 1.17 of the by-laws of the St. Louis Park Hockey Boosters, Inc., (a.k.a. St. Louis Park Hockey Association), the board of directors of the Association makes the following resolution:

1.      That the Governor of the state of Minnesota has, in response to the global pandemic, issued an order establishing a state of civil emergency that will extend at least until June 12, 2020, and is likely to be extended past that date, and has, pursuant to that order established criteria for gathering sizes, social distancing requirements and other rules, which criteria are reasonably expected to continue past June 12, 2020.

2.      That the board of the association is charged with holding an annual meeting of the membership of the Association at which time the members of the association are allowed and encouraged to vote on candidates for board and officer positions. In order to comply with the current, and anticipated restrictions, and to help maintain the safety of the membership, the board has decided not to hold an in person annual meeting. Instead, the following procedures will be used.

a.      The annual reporting will be made available to the membership via a slide deck which will be posted on the association website from June 20, 2020 (11:00am) through June 22, 2020.

b.      On June 22, 2020, a drive through drop box system of voting will be set up in the Rec Center Parking lot. Voting will be available from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm. All members are expected to follow any social distancing requirements put in place by the state, the city, or the Rec Center.

c.       Votes will be counted and the results posted on the web site by the end of day on June 23, 2020.

All members of SLPHA in attendance are eligible to case 1 vote per position during the elections.   No proxy or absentee votes will be accepted.

A member of SLPHA is defined as meeting 1 of the following 3 criteria:

1.    A parent or legal guardian of a registered player for the 2019-20 season.

2.    A registered, non-parent coach who coached during the 2019-20 season.

3.    An elected, non-parent board member.

All those interested in a board position must also submit a brief written statement by June 15, 2020 indicating the following:

  • Why you’re interested in the position
  • Prior and/or current relevant experience
  • Children participating in the SLPHA or HP program for 2020-21 season (e.g. 1 - Squirt/U10 and 1-Mite)
  • Anything else that you’d like to be considered

This statement will be posted on the SLPHA website for members to review prior to voting on June 22, 2020. 

Each SLPHA member vote will be confirmed eligible according to the 2019-20 registration list.

The result of the elections will be communicated association wide via email and will be posted on the SLPHA website by the end of the day June 23, 2020.

The newly elected board members will then be voted in at the July board meeting.

* 2  candidates are running for this position which will go to a vote by the general membership. 

** The gambling manager position is an appointed position selected by the board, is not up for election by the general membership.
 
Questions regarding role/responsibilities can be directed to the current SLPHA board member holding that position.
 

If you're interested in a board position, you need to submit your request to Michelle Amelse no later than June 15, 2020 to be eligible for consideration.


The positions noted above are up for election for a two-year term unless indicated otherwise.  The corresponding name represents someone who has expressed interest in the position and/or is an incumbent. 

Please note: anyone meeting the criteria can run for a board position that is up for election, even if a person currently serving in that position is running for re-election.
