Dates and Information To Know

Things to do before you get on the ice

This year all coaches will need to register with USA hockey and St. Louis Park hockey.  Just like our skaters, this will need to be completed before you get on the ice to skate with our kids.

STEP 1: Register at USA hockey (see link below)

STEP 2:  Go to USA screening link or print the screening form below and complete (All coaches)

STEP 3:  Register at SLP - see link below

STEP 4: Complete the required CEP level class (see link below for available classes)

STEP 5: Complete the Age Specific Module (link below)

(print off and save all receipts and confirmations for the steps above. This is for reimbursment and proof of completion)

USA Hockey Coaching Education (CEP) Requirements

The USA Hockey Coach Education program (CEP) is also undergoing significant changes this year. Of particular note is that EVERY coach will need to take an on line program for the level that they are coaching. The cost will be $10 and the sessions will last about 5 hours. It can be completed in several sessions on line. Also new is the one clinic per year limitation. New coaches will be required to take only the level 1 clinic and the appropriate age level on line module this year. Next year they will need to take the level 2 clinic. No word yet about the on line module requirements for the second year. Details can be found at www.usahockey.com in the coaching section.

Coaching Ideas

We know that our coaches are the best - always teaching new skills, always there on time and always giving themselves to the kids; but, sometimes, even the best may need a new idea ...
