Girls

The St. Louis Park and Hopkins youth hockey associations have partnered to create the Hopkins Park Nordics Hockey program.

Our mission was to create a competitive, development-focused hockey program where our girls could grow their skills.  Today we offer all age groups 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, and 15U and the full range of competition levels.  We develop our players through fast-paced on-ice practices and off-ice training opportunities.

Our girls come from different cities and schools but on the ice we are #ONETEAM.  We are HP Hockey.

3 Misconceptions of Girls Hockey

There’s no question: girls can do anything boys can do. Period.

As evident by the years of success on the ice and beyond, in 2018, there’s little doubt that the stage is set for female triumph in whatever she may choose. In Minnesota, we like to boast that especially holds true in hockey.

Just take a look at the cold, hard stats from the State of Hockey this past season:

  • 4,809 8U girls (fourth consecutive record setting year)
  • 13,883 total girls and women (fourth consecutive record setting year)
  • 7 2018 Olympic gold medalists
  • 10 U-18 World Championship gold medalists

But despite the evidence, some people still aren’t convinced. They still see girls hockey and boys hockey in different lights, and occasionally, that creates a perceived need to play on youth teams in order to excel in the game.
