Work with the head coach to understand what his/her expectations are for scrimmages.  Some coaches prefer to handle scrimmages themselves.

  • How many would he/she like scheduled during the season?
  • How far are we willing to travel?
  • Are there teams/contacts he/she would like you to try first?

process

When you receive a request from another team, review your calendar.  Check with coach and respond to request.

  1.   If your coach wants a scrimmage - look for a day that will work & contact another team/s to request scrimmage.
  2.   Look for solo ice time and contact ice scheduler for options & approval.
  3.   Schedule referees (home scrimmage)
  4.   Send date, time and location to ice scheduler to update your team calendar.
  5.   Work with opposing team’s contact to confirm details for securing and paying for refs and ice time - who will do what?
  6.   Assign parent game duties as needed.

If you are canceling a practice to go to a scrimmage instead, please contact the ice scheduler - they'll want to give your ice time to another team

To schedule a referee for a scrimmage:

Schedule at least 3 days ahead of time to insure there are officials available.  It's best to secure the referees as soon as you know you'll be putting together a scrimmage.

Please pay your officials at the event before the scrimmage begins
